How Orrery works

Each ring is an instrument with its own number of steps and its own subdivision. A planet orbits every ring at the global tempo; when it passes a lit step, that instrument plays. A 16-step ring loops once a bar. A 7-step ring at eighth notes loops every 3½ beats, so it lands somewhere new each bar. Stack a few of those and the pattern never quite repeats.

• Click a step to toggle it. Drag to paint. Shift-click (or right-click) for an accent.
• Scroll over a step on a melodic ring (perc, bass, pluck, bell, pad) to change its note. Melodic steps sit slightly inside or outside the ring to show pitch.
• Euclid spreads N hits as evenly as possible around the ring — the quickest way to a good groove.
• Click the sun to play or pause.
